The Miller Barncaster is a take on the classic Tele design appearing in a number of variations. This Alastair Miller Barncaster, Rosewood on Barn board model was created in Alastair Miller’s shop using a 150-year old barnboard core capped with Indian Rosewood and a Cocobolo neck, and custom wound Miller Pig Farmer pickups. The bridge pickup measures 7.4K ohms, the bridge 8.5K ohms. The other components are also top quality CTS pots with vintage era cap, and Switchcraft jack and switch. The pickguard is lacquered Bakelite.
The cocobolo neck is carved to a 50’s style profile and 9.5 inch radius, and bears an oil and wax finish. The fretwork is very clean and even, and the 11-49 strings on the guitar don’t feel heavy at all.
The guitar has been given a lightly ‘distressed’ treatment, inducing controlled tarnish on the metal parts, simulating age.
Alastair Miller builds guitars in Toronto, Canada and studied under Sergei de Jonge. His instruments feature high quality components and construction, attention to detail and sometimes unusual choices of materials such as Barnboard.
The Miller Barncaster series uses, as the name suggests, Barnboard – sometimes capped with various other woods to provide tonal and visual variations.
A tweed covered, rectangular hardshell case is included.
