Brand: Gibson
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
The Gibson CF-100 appeared in 1950 and was built until 1958, but it was not as popular as the 1951 electrified version – the CF-100E, which basically had a P-90 pickup bolted inside the top at the end of the fingerboard, and volume and tone controls.
The Gibson CF-100 was Gibson’s very early attempt at cutaway flat-top acoustics, adding a sharp florentine cutaway to a standard acoustic. The radiused top is spruce, with scalloped bracing and mahogany for the rest of the body and neck; the fingerboard and bridge are Indian Rosewood.
On these rare reissue models, there are some subtle differences – the Gibson logo is inlaid mother of pearl, rather than a decal, and the nut and saddle are bone.
