The Fender Stratocaster was an immediate hit because of its combination of style, looks, versatility, and reliability. The 56 Stratocaster was one of the landmark versions. Introduced in 1954, by 1956 the Stratocaster had been tweaked and was really taking off thanks to its use by artists like Buddy Holly.
Here we have a 2012 American Vintage ’56 Stratocaster in an original-style two-tone sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Current models are offered in a translucent blonde or black. Built in Corona, California, this example is in overall very good condition – there are a few small pressure marks on the top but otherwise it has very little wear. It’s equipped with the factory-optional 5 way pickup switch. The original tweed hardshell case is included.
