The C. F. Martin J-40 is a Jumbo model guitar featuring Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood paired with abalone hexagon inlays and logo. Like many non-Dreadnought body shapes, it has very balanced tonal representation and works very well for fingerstyle playing.
From the Martin website: ‘Classic styling with a tight-waisted jumbo body shape, the J-40 has solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, polished gloss finish and a hand-fit dovetail neck joint. It produces a tone that is beautifully balanced with powerful response and volume, enhancing the art of the singer-songwriter.’
This Martin J-40 dates to the early part of 2010, and is in overall good condition with light wear. A Fishman Ellipse Aura pickup system is installed, with the controls peeking out from the bass side of the soundhole so it’s ready for gigs. The original hardshell case is included.
