Brand: Caldersmith
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, SOLD
The Caldersmith Concert classical guitar is hand-built in Comboyne, NSW Australia and shows clear influences from Smallman guitars.
Built in 2009, this Caldersmith Concert uses a Wester Red Cedar top with carbon fiber lattice bracing, American Walnut for the sides and carved back, and mahogany for the neck. Unusually for a classical guitar, a double-action truss rod is installed. For comfort, Caldersmith installed an arm rest.
The bracing is not remotely done in a traditional style; it is very heavy and uses a soundpost to couple the top and back. In addition to sounding very good, it is very loud and has great projection. There is also a large, thin plastic tap plate on the top; in the photos, it may look like there’s a crack but it is the edge of the plastic. Another small piece of plastic protects the top behind the tie block on the bridge.
The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 52mm. A Hiscox LiteFlite case is included.
