❌SOLD❌ Gretsch White Falcon Bass G6136LS, 2006

Here’s something not quite vintage, but certainly unusual – a 2006 Gretsch White Falcon Bass G6136LSB (Long Scale Bass).

The Gretsch White Falcon was introduced in 1954 as a top of the line showpiece for the NAMM show, but a bass model wasn’t put into production at the time. A few years ago, Gretch decided to add a bass version to the line. This 2006 example shows off the quality of Gretsch’s production; it’s a really good instrument.

Being fully hollow, it has its limitations at high stage volumes, but in many other contexts it’s an outstanding bass.

This bass dates to November of 2006, and was built at the Japan Terada plant like most other Pro-line Gretsch models. It’s in very good, original clean condition with only very light wear to the finish and frets.

The Body is a double Cutaway, 17 inch wide, Maple laminate construction with gold sparkle binding around all the edges including the F-holes. It is fully hollow with waffle supports on the top and back, and a sound post under the bridge. The neck is Maple with a gold-sparkle-bound, purfled ebony fingerboard. The scale length is 34 inches with 1.28 inch nut width and 12 inch fingerboard radius. Gold The White Falcon plaque on headplate.

This is a White Falcon, so it naturally has a Gloss white poly finish and is in near perfect condition. The padded snap-on backpad protects the finish, though unlike the guitar models, it doesn’t cover an access plate.

The hardware is all original, and all metal parts are gold plated. It includes Sperzel locking tuners, G-cutout tailpiece, Space Control Bridge on ebony base, TV Jones Thunder ‘Tron pickups, and Gretsch wiring – master volume, individual volume controls, pickup selector, tone switch, and standby switch. Gretsch knurled strap buttons are standard. There is a small amount of plating wear on the top edge of the bridge pickup – the player rested his thumb there.

This full 34 inch scale bass plays really well and is quite comfortable.
