The Fender American Series Stratocaster was built from 2000 to 2008 – its name replaced and was in turn replaced by the American Standard series, which first appeared in 1986 and reappeared in 2008 as the American Standard Series Stratocaster. In turn, the American Standard series has been replaced by the American Professional series.
This example dates to 2000 and was built at the Fender plant in Corona, California. It features a sunburst finish and maple fingerboard, with staggered pickups and the excellent two-point trem bridge. It’s had some use over the last 17 years, so there is moderate fretwear, a bit of buckle rash on the back finish, and a couple of small dents and dings. It plays well, and is very comfortable. The original rectangular molded hardshell case is included, but the original trem arm is missing.
