❌SOLD❌ Gibson EM-150 Electric Mandolin, 1949

Brand:

Instrument Categories: ,

Guitarists haven’t been the only musicians needing more volume. All the other players had to keep up as levels rose, and the Gibson EM-150 Electric Mandolin was an early recognition of this need.

Based on a classic Gibson A-Style mandolin, the EM-150 electric mandolin was built from 1936 to 1971. The earliest models used a ‘Charlie Christian’ style pickup, but this shifted to a modified P-90 fairly quickly. This version of the P-90 uses four polepieces instead of six, and a ‘dogear’ plastic cover to match.

This EM-150 dates to 1948 or 1949, and is in good playing condition, and overall original good condition. As has happened with many of these instruments, the top is sagging behind the pickup.

A certificate from George Gruhn is included, dated 2011, and the original case is also included.
