This Vega Pete Seeger banjo was purchased by American composer Earl Robinson in 1966 while he was writing his ‘Concerto for Five String Banjo’. This was first performed by the Boston Pops orchestra under Arthur Fiedler. From the late 1930’s into the 1960’s, Earl Robinson composed a number of well known, largely topical pieces including ‘Joe Hill’ ‘Ballad for Americans’, ‘Black and White’ and ‘Lonesome Train’, performed by many top artists.

Here we have a very nice Tuttle Custom Carved Top with bolt-on Maple neck and a trans-blue finish, built during 2011 near Redmond, Oregon. Michael Tuttle has been operating Tuttle Guitars since 2003. He began building professionally in 1993 and spent some years with Valley Arts and Don Grosh before establishing his own shop.

Built by the Custom Shop, at least two versions of the Fender Postmodern Stratocaster (with choice of Maple or Rosewood fingerboards and a number of finishes, reliced or not) were joined in that year by Telecaster versions.

MORE →Here is a lovely Collings SJ Maple bodied steel string guitar, built in late 1998 in Austin Texas and with a K&K mini pickup set installed. This example has had two top cracks repaired and cleated, and the original Waverly tuners replaced with excellent Gotoh engraved open gear models. The finish has a few dings but overall is in good condition.

MORE →The Gibson Kalamazoo Award was originally designed and built by Gibson craftsman Wilbur Fuller as a completely hand-tuned archtop using the finest materials available. It is a spectacular demonstration of the skills involved in building a top-rank archtop guitar. This example dates to October 3rd, 1980 and was built in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is in exceptional condition with wear limited to light fret wear in the lower positions.
