MORE →Here’s something unusual a Gretsch G6136LSB White Falcon Bass dating to November 2011. We rarely see these basses; they were not produced with the original 1950’s versions of the White Falcon, and first appeared around 2006 as a new model built for Gretsch at the Japan Terada plant (hence the JT at the start of the serial number). This plant builds many really excellent quality instruments.
The Gretsch G6136LSB White Falcon Bass uses a fully hollow, arched Maple laminate body with tone bar bracing, and a 34-inch scale Maple neck with bound Ebony fingerboard, and with the engraved gold-plated “THE WHITE FALCON” plaque on the Falcon-styled headstock. It’s a White Falcon, so of course all of the binding is Gold Sparkle.

MORE →Built during 2014 and naturally in a gloss white finish this Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Bass was the first instrument produced in 1976 by the then-new Music Man company, part owned by Leo Fender. The Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Bass is a full scale length, 34 inch 4 string bass with an Ash body and bolt-on Maple neck; both Maple and Rosewood fingerboards, as with this example, are available. The StingRay features a single humbucking AlNiCo magnet pickup in the bridge position, and an active 3-band EQ running off a single 9-volt battery, accessible via a small door on the back. The short headstock is typical of the Music Man design – at least one tuner is shifted to the treble side to reduce the length of the head, and improve overall weight distribution and balance.

MORE →This new, older stock 2013 model Gibson Les Paul Studio in Arctic White. This is a remarkable instrument, using the classic Les Paul design but stripped down in terms of decoration. It is very resonant with lots of sustain, but is light and well balanced. And, because it’s a Studio model, it’s considerably less expensive than a Les Paul Standard, Classic, Traditional or Custom, though it is made in the USA, in the same Gibson Nashville, Tennessee facility.
For added tonal versatility, the two volume control pots are push-pull models, wired to activate a tap on the Gibson USA Modern Classic pickups – a 490R in the neck position and a 498T at the bridge.
