❌SOLD❌ Collings OM2H Orchestra Model Sitka Top, 2008

❌SOLD❌ Collings OM2H Orchestra Model Sitka Top, 2008

The Collings OM2H Orchestra Model is a top quality take on the classic OM guitars that date back to the late 1920s, as the great migration of banjo players to guitar began. The OM is based on the 12-fret neck, 1928 Martin 000 body size, which was modified to allow the 14 fret neck that banjo players needed for higher position chording. The upper bouts were ‘flattened’ to accommodate this neck. The 14 fret neck was so successful that on steel string guitars, it completely displaced the 12-fret neck. It’s only in the last few years that builders have been offering 12 fret necks again.

❌SOLD❌Collings I35 LC Deluxe Thinline Archtop Guitar Sunburst 2015

This is a treat – a Collings I35 LC Deluxe thinline archtop electric in a traditional sunburst, one of the best renderings of this concept available. This model draws from the iconic and once revolutionary Gibson ES-335 series, with a Maple laminate body around a Maple center block, and Mahogany neck with Indian Rosewood fingerboard.   It’s wired using a 1950’s style layout, with a pair of Lollar Imperial Low-Wind humbuckers.  This Collings I35 LC Deluxe example was built during 2015 at the Collings shop in Austin, Texas.  It is in all original, very good condition.   While it’s been played, wear is light.

❌SOLD❌ Collings MTO GT A Style Mandolin Sunburst, 2011 *Discontinued

Here is a very nice Collings MTO GT A Style mandolin from 2011. The GT simply means ‘Gloss Top’, with the rest of the instrument in a non-gloss satin finish. The Collings MTO is based on the classic Orville Gibson A Style ‘teardrop’ design dating back to the end of the 19th century. The A and F styles were radical departures from traditional mandolins and merged violin family construction concepts with the mandolin.

❌SOLD❌ Collings DS1 12 Fret Slope Shoulder Dreadnought, 2011

❌SOLD❌ Collings DS1 12 Fret Slope Shoulder Dreadnought, 2011

The Collings DS1 12-fret slope shoulder dreadnought draws from the well of the earliest large body steel string guitars, the dreadnoughts built for the Ditson company by C F Martin from 1916 to 1930. Martin made over 500 guitars for Ditson, but the dreadnought was not popular at the time, and from 1916 to 1921, only 14 were dreadnoughts. That changed completely in the early 1930s, with banjo players migrating to guitars; these players needed both volume and more frets, so the Dreadnought design was revived and given a 14 fret neck.
