The Gibson SJN appeared in 1956 as a natural top version of the successful Southern Jumbo, and had the model name ‘Country Western’. In 1962, square shoulders arrived, and the name was lengthened to ‘SJN Country Western’. The model was discontinued in 1978. This example dates to 1964, with the square shoulders and three-point pickguard. The top is Spruce, with mahogany for the back, sides and fingerboard, with Rosewood for the fingerboard and adjustable bridge.
