Here we’re looking at a Santa Cruz D Model, dating to 2010 and in very good condition. Built by at the SCGC shop run by Richard Hoover in Santa Cruz, California, this older Santa Cruz D Model features a Sitka Spruce top (since 2019, it’s been Adirondack Spruce) and Indian Rosewood for the back and sides. The neck is Mahogany, also used for the body blocks and linings, while Ebony is used for the bridge and bound fingerboard. Tuners are open-gear models by Gotoh, patterned after the classic Waverly models.

The Waterloo Jumbo King looks back to the larger guitars of the American 1940’s, delivering more volume and power for larger audiences and radio broadcasts. Using an X-braced Sitka Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood for the sides, back and fingerboard, the Waterloo Jumbo King WL-JK IR has a 15.75 inch body width and 5 inch depth. The neck is Mahogany, the Rosewood fingerboard unbound, and the bridge is Ebony with a drop-in bone saddle.

Here we’re looking at a brand new, just introduced Huss and Dalton CM model. It features an Engelmann Spruce top, Indian Rosewood for the sides and back, with Mahogany for the body blocks and neck. The head plate, bridge, and Maple-bound fingerboard are Ebony. Body binding is also Maple. Abalone is used for the rosette and 12th Fret Scroll inlay, and the Huss and Dalton log is Mother of Pearl.

This Guild D40SB was built during 1975 while the company was in Westerly, Rhode Island. It has definitely been used as its maker intended, and has the wear and repairs to show for it! The Guild D40SB is a dreadnought guitar (hence the D) with 40 level materials and appointments and a Sunburst finish top (the SB in the model number). Similar in concept to the Martin D-18, the Guild D40 pairs a Sitka Spruce top with tropical Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks, back bracing and neck, with Rosewood for the bridge and un-bound fingerboard.
