Here is a Collings CW Indian A Dreadnought steel string guitar dating to 2009 and in great shape. The ‘CW’ stands for Collings Winfield after the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas. This guitar is built for serious flat-pickers. Based on the classic D-28 design, the Collings CW Indian A features an Adirondack Spruce top with oversize soundhole to produce more clean volume when played hard.

Next is a very nice Marc Beneteau Flamenco guitar with Cedar top and Cypress back and sides, built in the Beneteau shop in St. Thomas Ontario during 1999. Built in a modern style, this Beneteau Flamenco model uses a Cedar top paired with Cypress for the sides and back. The neck is Flamed Mahogany and uses a bolt construction rather than the traditional Spanish ‘Slipper Heel’ design.

The Martin 0021NY, built from 1961 to 1965, is based on the 00-21 model first introduced by C. F Martin I during 1898 and built until 1996. While it is not heavily decorated and has no fingerboard inlays, it’s not a base model. It features a Sitka Spruce top paired with Brazilian Rosewood for the sides, back, headplate, fingerboard and bridge, with Mahogany for the body blocks and neck.

The Art & Lutherie Americana Faded Black is hand crafted in Quebec and pays tribute the century old classic Dreadnought body shape. This guitar features a solid cedar top and laminate wild cherry back and sides. The large body shape provides good volume for strumming and the cedar top adds lovely warmth to the tone. The satin faded black finish is sharp and eye catching with the white body binding.

Here’s a piece of Canadian musical history – an Arthur Hansel steel string guitar built in Toronto during February 1952 and restored by Bruce Dowd. Arthur Hansel immigrated to Canada from Germany during the early 1930s with the name ‘Hensel’ and was trained as a cabinetmaker and instrument builder. By 1936, he was listed in the Toronto Telephone Directory as either ‘Hansel’ or ‘Hansell’.
