❌SOLD❌ Gibson CS Les Paul Custom Black, 2014

❌SOLD❌ Gibson CS Les Paul Custom Black, 2014

Built at the now-closed Gibson Memphis Custom Shop, this gloss black CS Les Paul Custom dates to 2014 and has all the class and looks of the Custom. The Gibson Les Paul Custom was introduced for the 1954 model year as a ‘dressed up’ version of Gibson’s then-new Les Paul model. The black finish with white multi-ply binding were meant to suggest a tuxedo. At first, it was equipped with a P-90 at the bridge and a ‘Stape Top’ Alnico V pickup at the neck. More important, though, was the wood choice.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Custom Sunburst, 1979

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Custom Sunburst, 1979

Here we’re looking at a Gibson Les Paul Custom Sunburst, dating to March 27 1979 and still built at the historic Kalamazoo plant. It has all the characteristics of the Norlin ownership era, from 1970 to 1983. These include a Maple neck rather than Mahogany, a decreased pitch for the headstock, and a volute behind the truss rod adjuster cavity. These changes were intended to reduce the number of broken headstocks.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Custom Shop 1951 Telecaster Relic Blonde, 2016

❌SOLD❌ Fender Custom Shop 1951 Telecaster Relic Blonde, 2016

The Fender Custom Shop 1951 Telecaster Relic features a light-weight Ash body, and a full-U profile, one piece Maple neck. This neck design was one of Leo Fender’s breakthroughs. The finish reproduces the original nitrocellulose lacquer ‘blonde’, but with significant wear. Tuners are Kluson Deluxe style with metal buttons, as Fender continued to use for decades. The bridge offers three Brass saddles, and has the Patent Pending stamp, as many early 1950’s models did (until Fender ran out and had to re-order).

❌SOLD❌ Gurian JM Jumbo Mahogany Steel String Guitar, 1979

❌SOLD❌ Gurian JM Jumbo Mahogany Steel String Guitar, 1979

During the 1970s Michael Gurian built many guitars like this Gurian JM, or Jumbo Mahogany guitar, from his factory in Hinsdale, New Hampshire. However a devastating fire in 1979, and the rising tide of synthesizer music forced Gurian to fold in 1981 as far as building guitars was concerned. The Gurian JM or Jumbo Mahogany is a large body guitar, Gurian’s largest, but is more akin to an OM or Classical guitar than a traditional Jumbo steel string like the Gibson J-200. As the name suggests, the JM uses Mahogany for the back, sides and neck, with Sitka Spruce for the top.

❌SOLD❌ Jose Romero Flamenco Negra Guitar, 1996

This Jose Romero Flamenco Negra example is signed and dated to 1996, and combines a Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the back sides headplate and bridge. The Rosewood set used for the sides and back has a more pronounced figure due to being flat-sawn rather than quarter-sawn. As traditional on this type of instrument, the neck is Cedro – Spanish Cedar – with Ebony for the fingerboard.

❌SOLD❌ Froggy Bottom M Body Guitar Sunburst, 2001

❌SOLD❌ Froggy Bottom M Body Guitar Sunburst, 2001

The Froggy Bottom M Body guitar is hand crafted in Michael Millard’s six-person Froggy Bottom shop in Chelsea, Vermont USA. Based on 16 inch wide ‘jumbo’ style body, the Froggy Bottom M body is similar in dimensions to the Martin M design, bigger than the classic 000 body but not as large as a dreadnought. This body design produces a harmonically more even tone than the dreadnought, with less attack and sustain. These characteristics make it an excellent choice for fingerstyle guitarists.
