❌SOLD❌ Tony Duggan Smith Mystic Short Scale Archtop Blonde, 1995

Here is a treat – a Tony Duggan Smith Mystic, a short scale (21.89 inch, 556mm) cutaway archtop built during 1995 at Duggan-Smith’s Toronto shop. Tony Duggan-Smith has been around the Canadian arts music and film scene for decades.  He was a member of the Pukka Orchestra and Neotone after apprenticing with Jean Larrivee and leading the repair department at Ring Music, then run by Bill Wagner and Michael McLuhan (yes that McLuhan.),  and has also over a decade of work in the film industry.  One of his current projects is the Apprehension Engine, an instrument specifically designed for use in horror films.

❌SOLD❌ Larrivee LV19 Special Vine Edition, 2002

❌SOLD❌ Larrivee LV19 Special Vine Edition, 2002

The Larrivee LV19 Special Vine Edition was built only during 2002, in a run of fifty instruments featuring a spectacular engraved ‘tree of life’ vine inlay. Here we’re looking at a Larrivee LV19 Special Vine Edition, dating to September 10, 2002 and built at the then-new Larrivee shop in Oxnard, California. The LV-19 is now a discontinued model, but the “LV” indicated the classically-derived Larrivee body while the “19” denotes a step up from the “09” trim, adding Rosewood binding.

❌SOLD❌Ramirez SPR Spruce Top Classical Guitar, 2012

❌SOLD❌Ramirez SPR Spruce Top Classical Guitar, 2012

The Ramirez SPR classical guitar continues the tradition of the Ramirez 1a Especial model. Conceived by the maestro-luthier Amalia Ramirez, the SP-R furthers the evolution to the ‘modern’ sound. In the model designation, the SP refers to ‘Semi Professional’ and the R for Revised – this model supersedes and improves the original Ramirez SP. Based on professional grade model designs, the top of the Ramirez SPR is built at the Ramirez shop and the guitar completed offsite. The Ramirez home shop is not a large place, and Madrid doesn’t allow spray finishing within the city limits, so offsite completion is necessary.

❌SOLD❌ Martin D18 Custom Shop Natural, 2010

❌SOLD❌ Martin D18 Custom Shop Natural, 2010

This Martin D18 Custom Shop is closely based on a classic, and has been one of the most popular guitar designs since its mass market introduction in the early 1930’s. The basic Dreadnought design itself dates from mid 1910’s models built for the Oliver Ditson company. Like many guitar companies, the Martin Custom Shop allows customers to specify particular features, tailoring the instrument to their own needs. Here, this Martin D18 Custom Shop guitar was ordered with just a few modifications – a slightly narrower nut and some D28 appointments, particularly the rosette.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Jazz Bass Natural Refinish, 1966

❌SOLD❌ Fender Jazz Bass Natural Refinish, 1966

Here is a Fender Jazz Bass Natural refinish, with body and neck built towards the end of 1965 but assembled, wired and sold in early 1966. The Jazz Bass was introduced in 1960, as Leo Fender’s second distinct bass after the two versions of the Precision Bass. Targeted towards Jazz players and taking design cues from the then-new Jazzmaster and Jaguar models, particularly the offset body, the Jazz Bass offered a brighter, more focused tone with less fundamental than the Precision Bass along with a much narrower neck.

❌SOLD❌Gretsch 6125 Single Anniversary Smoke Green, 1959

❌SOLD❌Gretsch 6125 Single Anniversary Smoke Green, 1959

The Gretsch 6125 Single Anniversary appeared in 1958 as an evolution of the Streamliner, itself based on the popular Chet Atkins 6120 model and in 1959 featured Trestle Bracing and the new patent applied for Filter ‘Tron hum cancelling pickup designed by Ray Butts. Here we’re looking at an all original Gretsch 6125 Single Anniversary in Smoke Green Two Tone. It’s in very nice condition, a very good neck angle and minimal wear to the finish and frets. There is a bit of binding damage, typical to Gretsch models of the era (due to long-term interaction between the binding and the binding glue), only on the short piece of binding next to the heel on the cutaway.
