(Discontinued) Taylor 914ce with Laskin Armrest, 2015

The Taylor 914ce resides in the higher end of Taylor’s Spruce and Rosewood models. Using the Grand Auditorium design with both a cutaway and an ebony Laskin Armrest and lots of shell trim, the Taylor 914ce is a spectacular guitar – in tone, playability, comfort and appearance.

SOLD!!! Deering Boston Open Back 6 String Banjo

SOLD!!! Deering Boston Open Back 6 String Banjo

The Deering Boston Open Back 6 String Banjo is built specifically for The Twelfth Fret. Many guitar players find that they want to incorporate banjo tones, but don’t want to learn a new instrument. The stock Deering Boston Open Back 6 addresses this need, but we find that the tone is too harsh. So, we’ve had Deering mate the standard Boston 6 neck with a Vega Little Wonder wooden tone ring pot. This offers the warmest and fattest tone possible for a six string banjo, and brings the weight down to about 7 pounds.

Michael Messer Lightning Style 0 Resonator Guitar

Michael Messer Lightning Style 0 Resonator Guitar

The Michael Messer Lightning is a nickel-plated bell brass body, 1930’s style 12-fret single cone resonator guitar, intended to provide the tone and vibe of a vintage blues guitar, and it does this well. You get the vintage look and tone, but with modern playability and reliability at an affordable price. These are great instruments for fingerstyle and bottleneck blues playing. The Michael Messer Lightning has the characteristic attack, projection, resonance and volume of a ‘steel body’ guitar. As expected, it’s bright, but with a warmth and depth that avoid harshness and add a sweetness to the edge. The modern features include an adjustable truss rod.

❌SOLD❌ C. Bruno and Son Banjo, circa 1867

❌SOLD❌ C. Bruno and Son Banjo, circa 1867

This C. Bruno and Son fretless banjo arrived here about 15 years ago and has been in storage ever since. As is often the case with my “projects”, it was forgotten for years. I recently came into a lovely set of Ivoroid friction tuners that reminded me of the Bruno banjo and its need for appropriate tuners. This 130-year-old set of friction pegs were typical of the 1880s or 90s. And since they are synthetic ivory, they are legal under the CITES regulations.
