❌SOLD❌ Burns Bison Bass Red, 2012

❌SOLD❌ Burns Bison Bass Red, 2012

The Burns Bison Bass was a favourite among session musicians in the Sixties due to its long scale and a very wide range of tones, including the famous Wild Dog setting. Originally built from 1964 to 1965, the Bison Bass has an unmistakable look with its large horned body. Originally issued using the typical Burns scroll headstock, it now uses a more standard 4-a side Fender-esque headstock.
The Burns company was restarted by Barry Gibson in the late 1990s and has been producing reissues of the earlier Burns designs. This Bison Bass dates to 2012 and was built in Korea at a high-quality plant.

❌SOLD❌ Steinberger XL2 Headless Fretted Bass, 1984 (REDUCED)

❌SOLD❌ Steinberger XL2 Headless Fretted Bass, 1984 (REDUCED)

Here we have a Steinberger XL2 Headless Fretted Bass, dating to 1984 and built at the Steinberger shop in Newburgh, New York. It uses the unmistakable headless design based on the L2 and is made of graphite reinforced epoxy with some plastic components (the top). The pickups are by EMG. It is in overall very good, original condition though – as is common with these instruments – the plug-in leg rest is missing. Fret wear is minor and it’s very comfortable to play, with a tight focused tone even acoustically.
Ned Steinberger came from a fine arts background, focusing on sculpture, to create highly influential instruments, particularly the headless guitar and bass.

❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker Electro Model NS Lap Steel, 1948

The Rickenbacker lap steel was possibly the very first successful electric guitar put into larger scale production, but Rickenbacker’s influence goes back to the early National days. Adolph Rickenbacker – then spelled Richenbacher – had a tool and die shop near National, and was contracted to produce metal bodies and resonator cones for National guitars, ukuleles and mandolins.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Classic Vintage Sunburst, 2008

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Classic Vintage Sunburst, 2008

The Gibson Les Paul Classic Vintage has been produced over several periods – from 1990 to 1998, then from 2000 to 2008, and currently since 2014. For this example, the model features a weight-relieved or partially chambered body, nicely figured top and a bound headstock. This example dates to a fairly warm Thursday, September 4th, 2008 and was built at the Gibson plant in Nashville, Tennessee. It features a nicely flamed maple top with a dark vintage sunburst finish in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, and the standard Les Paul construction of mahogany body and neck with bound rosewood fingerboard. The head is also bound, a feature otherwise generally found only on the Les Paul Custom. Specific to this model, there are custom routes placed strategically in the body to reduce weight and provide resonance.
