❌Sold❌ Gibson ES-175 Cutaway Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1969

The Gibson ES-175 cutaway came onto the scene in 1949 as a single pickup archtop with a sharp florentine cutaway and Maple laminate body construction. The most popular electric archtop at the time was the ES-150, with carved spruce top and carved Maple back. The laminate construction of the new ES-175 was not only more affordable, but also offered better feedback resistance.

This Gibson RB-250 Mastertone was built at the historic Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan and dates to 1968 and is in good working order. Previously refretted, it has just received a fret dress and set up here by Anne Hartman. As an indication of this banjo’s history, the rear of the headstock features a small plaque reading ‘The House of Banjo Edmonton Alberta’. The House of Banjo was opened in 1967 by Alfie Myhre and Don Evoy, and is now part of Myhre’s Music.

Originally created as a showpiece for the annual winter 1955 NAMM music trade show in Anaheim, California, the Gretsch White Falcon received an unexpected level of interest – and orders.

❌SOLD❌ C. F. Martin 000-45 Steel String Guitar, 1942

❌SOLD❌ C. F. Martin 000-45 Steel String Guitar, 1942

In terms of provenance, this guitar has had three owners and was used in a popular band during the 1950s. It has had an amount of work over the decades, some of it significant. One side appears to have been replaced, and the top has had a section replaced. This work was done very cleanly and may have been performed by Martin at their factory, though they have no record of it. Recently, in our shop, it has been refretted, had the first-position mother of pearl snowflake marker replaced, and received a full set up. It plays very well, and has a full, rich, even tone. The tonal nature of Brazilian Rosewood (denser than Indian) is evident in an slight added clarity.
