❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Tobacco Sunburst, 2007

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Tobacco Sunburst, 2007

The Gibson Les Paul Standard as a distinct model appeared in 1958, based on the 1957 Les Paul Gold Top that carried the new Humbucking pickups but with a sunburst finish and a figured top. However, the Les Paul was declining in popularity, and the model was completely redesigned as what we now know as the SG, for 1961. The traditional single-cutaway Les Paul was out of production until 1968.

❌SOLD❌ C. F. Martin D-28 Brazilian Rosewood Guitar, 1966

The C.F. Martin D-28 is one the oldest of Martin’s designs, with the ’28’ style dating to 1870, and the ‘D’ body coming into general production in 1931. From 1917 to 1930, Martin made some D body guitars for the Ditson company of Boston. The guitars from 1931 had 12-fret necks, shifting to 14 frets in 1934.As the banjo declined in popularity and the guitar rose to prominence, the Rosewood-bodied Martin D-28 became very popular and has continued to be, with the Mahogany-bodied D-18, one of the most sought after guitars.

❌SOLD ❌ Gibson Flying V Black, 1993

The Gibson Flying V was introduced in 1958 as part of an effort by Ted McCarty to modernize Gibson’s reputation with futuristic designs, along with the Explorer and the only-prototyped Moderne. While a few prominent players immediately picked up the Flying V, it was not popular and production ceased by 1959. During 1963, a few were built from leftover parts, but the two initial 1958 production batches totaled around 80 instruments.
