Introduced in 1997 as part of a Signature Series, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat is still built in Ensenada, Mexico. Jimmy Vaughn is of course Stevie Ray’s older brother, and from 1974 to 1990 played in The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Based on a later 1950’s Stratocaster, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat uses an Alder body paired with a one-piece Maple neck.

Here we have the brand-new Fintan McEnroe MC18 F-style mandolin from Fintan McEnroe, working in Toronto but originally from Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, Ireland. The ‘18’ in the name refers to the mandolin serial number and production sequence. This fine instrument was very recently finished, in August of 2023.

Making its debut appearance in 1969, the Gibson Les Paul Deluxe layout was based on the 1950’s pre-humbucker P-90 models. The Deluxe body construction uses the same Maple cap on a Mahogany back as the Standard humbucker version, but the pickup routes accept either P-90s or mini-humbuckers which are mounted in P-90 sized support rings.

Gibson RD Artist Bass Antique Natural, 2018 ✓

The Gibson RD Artist Bass were built during 2018, revisiting the original RD Basses from 1977 to 1981. These distinctive basses draw from Gibson’s original Firebird and Thunderbird designs, but are definitely not copies. The early RD Bass line consisted of two models, the Standard, and Artist. Construction was Maple for the body and Laminated Maple for the neck, with a Maple fingerboard.

Michael Heiden has been building quality instruments since the 1970’s and his work is highly respected. Originally working in Vancouver as a musician, repairman and builder, he moved to Chilliwack and since then to Creston, B.C.
