❌SOLD❌ Rob Allen MB2 Fretless Bass Walnut, 2010

Here we have a Rob Allen MB2 Fretless Bass, built with a Walnut topped Mahogany body during 2010 at Allen’s shop in Fillmore, California.  Rob Allen designs and builds to his own preferences combining acoustic and electric tonalities. The Allen MB-2 bodies are semi-hollow, and use acoustic style bridges rather than massive metal units. The bridge itself is Rosewood, with a Bone saddle and a built-in Fishman transducer – there is also a volume control on the bridge itself.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Gold Top, 1953

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Gold Top, 1953

The Gibson Les Paul Gold Top appeared in 1952 and rapidly began evolving and improving until reaching a fairly stable form in 1954. Initially, the Les Paul was equipped with a Les Paul-designed bridge-trapeze tailpiece combination, but also a very low neck angle. By early 1953, the trapeze was replaced with a stop-bar bridge. Soon after, the new ABR-1 bridge, known as the Tune-O-Matic, was added paired with a stop tailpiece.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES Les Paul Pelham Blue, 2016

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES Les Paul Pelham Blue, 2016

Coming from the now shuttered Memphis plant in 2015, the Gibson ES Les Paul combined classic Les Paul aesthetics with the immensely successful thinline ES concept. Along with the plant, this model has, as such, been discontinued by Gibson’s new management. The new ES-235 is perhaps its replacement in this class.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul GoldTop Refinish, 1952

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul GoldTop Refinish, 1952

Introduced in 1952, the Gibson Les Paul GoldTop was Gibson’s first foray into the brand new solidbody electric guitar market. With the now standard carved Maple cap on a Mahogany slab body, a metal-flake Gold finish was applied to the top to increase its ‘upmarket’ appeal. The carved top was certainly a nod towards the archtops that Gibson was already well established in making, but importantly, Gibson had the equipment to do this, and Fender did not.
