❌SOLD❌ Gretsch White Falcon Bass G6136LS, 2006

Here’s something not quite vintage, but certainly unusual – a 2006 Gretsch White Falcon Bass G6136LSB (Long Scale Bass). The Gretsch White Falcon was introduced in 1954 as a top of the line showpiece for the NAMM show, but a bass model wasn’t put into production at the time. A few years ago, Gretch decided to add a bass version to the line.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson SJ Long Scale Square Shoulder Dreadnought Sunburst, 1968

❌SOLD❌ Gibson SJ Long Scale Square Shoulder Dreadnought Sunburst, 1968

The Gibson SJ Long Scale, Square Shoulder Dreadnought was a variation on the classic SJ model built for a short time around 1968 as Gibson competed with Martin. The classic SJ first appeared in 1942 as a replacement for the J-55, an ‘upscale’ version of the J-45. This was originally a ‘slope’ or round-shouldered dreadnought with a 24.75 inch scale length in either sunburst or natural finish. The natural-top SJN version was renamed to the ‘Country Western’ from 1955 to 1960, and then back to SJN. In 1962, it was renamed again to ‘SJN Country Western’.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Advanced Jumbo Historic Collection Vintage Burst, 2005

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Advanced Jumbo Historic Collection Vintage Burst, 2005

Here’s a lovely and unusual piece – a Gibson Advanced Jumbo Historic Collection model, patterned after the original 1936 round shouldered, Rosewood dreadnought. While this looks rather like other Gibson round shoulder models – particularly the venerable J-45 – the Advanced Jumbo has a longer scale length, the X brace is moved closer to the soundhole, and the sides and back are Rosewood instead of Mahogany. Gibson launched the Advanced Jumbo in 1936 but discontinued it in 1939. The original models used a mix of Brazilian and Indian Rosewood – both are documented.
