Martin 000-15M Mahogany Steel String Guitar

Martin 000-15M Mahogany Steel String Guitar

Built with a body and neck of Mahogany paired with Indian Rosewood for the fingerboard, bridge and head plate, the Martin 000-15M is a punchy, responsive guitar.  The Martin ’15’ series indicates that the trim level is fairly low, in particular there is no body or fingerboard binding, and the finish is satin.  Mahogany has long been used as an alternative wood for guitar and ukulele tops, and Martin has used it for nearly a century.

❌SOLD❌ Ramirez FL2 Flamenco Blanca Guitar, 2006

❌SOLD❌ Ramirez FL2 Flamenco Blanca Guitar, 2006

The Ramirez FL2 flamenco blanca is a traditional Flamenco Blanca model, built to provide brilliant, percussive and loud rhythms at brisk tempos. This model, and its new replacement the Estudio Flamenco are the only ‘Student’ Flamenco guitars offered by Ramirez. Flamenco is now very professional and formalized, but at its roots a folk style combining highly expressive, rhythmic percussion and melody using voice, dance, hand claps, finger snaps and guitars.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ESDP 335 Dot Neck Plain Top Thinline Sunburst, 2006

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ESDP 335 Dot Neck Plain Top Thinline Sunburst, 2006

The Gibson ESDP 335 was identical to other 335 models – the distinguishing characteristics are the use of dot position markers instead of blocks, and plain, un-figured Maple laminates for the body.   For hardware, there’s a set of Grover Roto-Matics at the head, a standard tune-0-matic and stop tailpiece set, and a pair of Classic 57 pickups with standard wiring.

❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker 4003 Bass Natural Refinish, 1982

❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker 4003 Bass Natural Refinish, 1982

Introduced in 1979 as an update to the 4001 model, the Rickenbacker 4003 Bass and its sisters have been a distinctive alternative to the ‘ordinary’ basses available. Here we are looking at a great deal on a Rickenbacker 4003 Bass, built during November of 1982 at the Rick plant in Santa Ana, California. It has been refinished in Natural, and the new finish has a fair amount of wear. During the refinish process, the top contours were rounded slightly, which probably makes the bass a bit more comfortable to play.

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Anniversary 6124 Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1963

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Anniversary 6124 Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1963

Originally built between 1958 and 1972, the Gretsch Anniversary 6124 was the Sunburst version of the two-tone 6125 model, both based on the successful 6120 Chet Atkins model. In its first two years, the Anniversary 6124/6125 carried a single Filter ‘Tron humbucking pickup at the neck, but from 1961 a single coil Hi-Lo ‘Tron was used. The basic structure or bones of the Gretsch Anniversary 6124 is very similar to the 6120, with a fully hollow, 16 inch wide body using parallel tone bar bracing and no sound post.

❌SOLD❌ Larrivee OO Body Steel String Guitar Rosewood, 1976

❌SOLD❌ Larrivee OO Body Steel String Guitar Rosewood, 1976

Here is a lovely item from the past – a Larrivee OO body steel string guitar from 1976 in Toronto, just as The Twelfth Fret opened, with signatures from both Jean Larrivee (on the label) and Tony Duggan-Smith (discreetly engraved in the headstock inlay). At the time this guitar was built, I was just moving to The Twelfth Fret from the late Darryl Williams’ shop in Schomberg, Ontario, as the first Twelfth Fret employee.
