MORE →The Taylor LKSM – the Leo Kottke Signature Model – is now discontinued but is one of the best choices for fast, articulated 12-string guitar styles. Leo Kottke has been closely associated with the 12-string guitar for most of his career, and often played models by Bozo Podunovak, Gibson and Martin. Known for his fast, loud and well articulated playing, Kottke used both thumb and finger picks until the 1980s when tendonitis forced him to stop playing for several years.

MORE →Here is a seldom-seen rarity – an Ampeg Dan Armstrong ADA6 Reissue, built in Japan at the start of the 2006 reissue cycle. The reissue cycles ran from 1998 to 2001, and again from 2006 to 2011. Bass versions were also available. Lucite, also sold as Perspex and Plexiglas, was chosen for its clarity and availability.

That location was Larrivee’s first formal shop space separate from his home, and was soon followed by a storefront on Mt. Pleasant Avenue. Jean Larrivée began building at his home around 1967. At that time, if you were interested in building guitars you read the very few books on the subject or met an established builder.

MORE →The Taylor 512ce Grand Concert is a compact-bodied steel string guitar well suited to fingerstyle playing. Introduced in 1978, the 512ce has changed somewhat over the years. Initially built with Mahogany for the back and sides with an X-braced top and a standard dovetail neck joint, the 512 gained the hybrid NT neck joint in 1999.
