MORE →This G W Barry Concert Cutaway steel string dates to the year 2000 and was built in Toronto, using Sitka Spruce for the top, paired with Indian Rosewood for the back, and sides, and streaked Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. The neck and blocks are Mahogany, and the rosette uses and Abalone ring. The Barry concert body draws from the proportions of the Gibson J-185, but in a more curvaceous – dare we say bodacious – rendering of that design.

This instrument is passing through our shop on the way to its new owner, and it looks so good we wanted to share it. This is Mr. Barry’s Modified Concert model in Bear-claw Sitka Spruce and Ziricote. With a 15.5 in. lower bout width and 4.25 in. tail end depth the Mod-C bridges the gap between a standard OM and Dreadnought dimensions, while its curvaceous lines add an ergonomic comfort factor when in a seated playing position.

His untimely passing in a tragic airline disaster ripped a page out of our young countries cultural fabric far too soon – but, his songs live on and will never be forgotten.

MORE →This G W Barry M-Body guitar was built during 1998 at G W Barry’s shop in Toronto, Canada. As such, it features Barry’s ‘M’ body design, derived partly from the Martin style body. The top is Sitka Spruce with a paua abalone rosette and top binding, the back, sides and neck plate of Indian Rosewood, with mahogany for the neck and ebony for the bridge and bound fingerboard. A Fishman Matrix pickup, with no controls, is installed to an endpin jack. Tuners are by Gotoh, and have ebony buttons. The A button has a crack, which is relatively common with these units.
