❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson ES-335 'Rich Robinson' 471 of 500 Cherry, 2014

Built at the Gibson Memphis plant, the Gibson ES-335 Rich Robinson is very much like a ‘new’ 1963 model. The ‘Custom Made’ plaque on the body was frequently used to cover stop-tailpiece collars when a Bigsby was installed, either at the factory or after purchase. The cherry finish very common in that era, and the metal parts have gone through a ‘VOS’ aging process to simulate natural oxidization.

❌ SOLD ❌ Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard Sunburst, 2004

The Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard was built from 2003 to 2009, though there were earlier models under the ‘Epiphone Elite’ name. However, it turned out that Ovation was already using the ‘Elite’ name. These guitars were built by Fuju-Gen at Matsumoto, Japan for Gibson, as the high end of the Epiphone line. They use US made hardware and top quality woods. The fit and finish are top quality.

❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson SG SR VOS 1961 Les Paul Custom Shop Cherry, 2006

❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson SG SR VOS 1961 Les Paul Custom Shop Cherry, 2006

Here’s a wonderful piece that takes us all back. This is a Gibson SG SR VOS 1961, a reissue of the reworked 1961 Les Paul Standard with Lyre Vibrola and Cherry finish. This was the second version of the SG build – the initial production run had a side-to-side vibrola tailpiece. That was quickly replaced with the Maestro Lyre Vibrola, and this form was the SG Standard until the mid 1960’s. By 1963, the Les Paul name was removed for contractual reasons.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson 1954 Les Paul Custom Reissue Black, 2000

❌SOLD❌ Gibson 1954 Les Paul Custom Reissue Black, 2000

The Gibson 1954 Les Paul Custom was introduced as the top of the line in the new concept of the solid body electric guitar. Gibson had been producing electrified guitars since at least 1936, using designs like the Charlie Christian pickup on archtop and Hawaiian models. Ted McCarty, then president of Gibson and keenly aware of the competitive potential of Leo Fender’s designs, worked with Les Paul to produce a solid body electric worthy of the Gibson name.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Traditional Heritage Cherry Sunburst, 2009

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Traditional Heritage Cherry Sunburst, 2009

The Gibson Les Paul Traditional is based on Les Paul models from the 1980s and 1990’s rather than the 1950’s and uses top grade figured woods. It still uses the pattern of carved maple top on a mahogany back, with a mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard. The Les Paul Standard is moving on, bringing in new features while the Traditional keeps things the way they were.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-345TD ‘Domenic Troiano’ Electric Thinline, Cherry, 1960

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-345TD 'Domenic Troiano' Electric Thinline, Cherry, 1960

This Gibson ES-345TD was built during 1960 at the historic Parsons Street plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It has its original PAF pickups, and the Varitone has been disconnected. The bridge has been changed to a later ABR patent number bridge. It has been refretted – no fretwire could withstand the amount of use this guitar received. It’s very likely it was refretted at The Twelfth Fret.
