❌SOLD❌ Epiphone Howard Roberts Standard Archtop Electric Sunburst, 1965

Built from 1964 to 1970, the Epiphone Howard Roberts Standard takes cues from very early Gibson archtops – specifically, the oval sound hole on an arched Spruce top. Apparently, 290 of these guitars were made, from introduction until Epiphone construction was moved out of Kalamazoo and sent overseas. At his peak, Howard Roberts was at the top of the session world, for a time doing nine hundred sessions a year. There were two versions of the Epiphone Howard Roberts – the Custom and Standard.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-5 Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1949

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-5 Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1949

The Gibson ES-5 appeared in 1949 and was the first ES – Electric Spanish – guitar with three pickups.   Originally equipped only with rotary pots for volume and tone controls, this model was revised in 1955 as the ES-5 Switchmaster.     Using a full size cutaway archtop body made with maple laminates for feedback rejection, the original ES-5 had individual volume controls and one master tone control.   Depending on the pot rotation, you could have all three pickups at any blend level.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Custom Black, 1974

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Custom Black, 1974

First appearing in 1953, the Gibson Les Paul Custom began as an upmarket version of Gibson’s new solidbody, with a solid Mahogany cap instead of Maple and P90 pickups and a dramatic black finish. Here we’re looking at a Gibson Les Paul Custom in Black, built likely during 1974 at the Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. At this point, Gibson was well into planning their move to Nashville, but the new plant was not ready until 1984.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Custom 1954 VOS Reissue Black, 1992

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Custom 1954 VOS Reissue Black, 1992

Introduced as the top of the line in elegance and function, the Gibson Les Paul Custom 1954 model was presented in tuxedo style finish – black, white trim, and gold hardware. Unlike the original Les Paul gold-top models which paired a carved Maple top with a mahogany body, the new Custom’s body was entirely Mahogany. New hardware appeared, as well; the new, gold-plated ABR ‘tune-o-matic’ bridge and stop tailpiece, and the Seth Lover designed, single coil ‘staple top’ Alnico V neck pickup with a P-90 at the bridge.
