The Collings C10 Deluxe Cutaway fits into the range of ‘Parlor’ guitars, slightly smaller than the OM or 00/000 body sizes. The cutaway is offered as an option, with the base model being a traditional non-cutaway design. The top and bracing is Sitka Spruce, the sides and back Indian Rosewood, the body blocks and neck are Mahogany and the bridge, head plate and bound fingerboard are all ebony.

In production from 1953 to 2016 and the successor to the 1949 single pickup ES-175, the Gibson ES-175D was perhaps the best accepted archtop electric. While found in many genres of music, from jazz to early rock and roll, from pop to arena rock, it is most associated with the many jazz guitarists who built careers with it.

❌SOLD❌ Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith ‘Lawsuit Era’ Archtop Electric Natural, 1975

Here we have an Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith style, full body cutaway archtop, built in Japan likely during 1975. The model was built until 1977. Typical of the early 1975 period, it has no serial number – these started appearing on the back of the headstock late 1975. It is largely original, though it has a slight modification – the output jack was a mini-plug mounted on the pickguard, and this was removed and a standard 1/4 inch jack installed to the lower treble side.

Joe Pass, Kenny Burrell, Joe Diorio, Toots Thielemans, Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, Herb Ellis, Howard Roberts, Jimmy Raney, Pat Metheny — all at one time in their careers played and recorded with the Gibson ES-175.

Built by one of Spain’s larger makers, the Alhambra Crossover CS3-S-E8 is aimed at players generally from the steel string world who need a cutaway, crowned fingerboard and a pickup system. The ‘Crossover’ concept is a relatively new development for the nylon-string world and appeals to many players, particularly those in Latin Jazz genres who need to amplify their instruments.

Here is a Halcyon Grand Auditorium Cutaway with a Lutz Spruce top and figured Walnut for the sides, back, body binding and head plate, and built by Ed Bond in East Vancouver around 2020. Aside from the Lutz Spruce and Figured Walnut, the body blocks and neck are Mahogany, with Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge.
