❌SOLD❌ Godin Multiac Grand Concert Satin Gloss, 2002

❌SOLD❌ Godin Multiac Grand Concert Satin Gloss, 2002

The Godin Multiac Grand Concert has become a very successful and immensely practical instrument, and is based directly on the Gibson Chet Atkins CE Classical Electric from 1981.
By the early 1980s, Chet Atkins had shifted largely to playing nylon string guitars, but the instruments available at the time were strictly acoustic and not really suited to the realities of touring, and amplified or broadcast stages. On Atkin’s request, Gibson produced two models of a solidbody nylon string guitar, using Mahogany for the neck and a slab body, adding a Spruce top.

❌SOLD❌ Edgar Monch Hauser Style Classical Guitar, 1960

This Edgar Monch Hauser style concert classical guitar is typical of Monch’s work while in Munich, prior to his move to Toronto around 1965. Edgar Monch was one of the more important classical guitar builders from Munich, the other being Hermann Hauser. Monch lived for some time in Toronto where he was also a highly influential teacher for many early Canadian luthiers including Jean Larrivee. He was himself a student of Marcelo Barbero in Madrid during the 1950s. Born in 1907, Edgar Monch died in 1977.

❌SOLD❌ Bruce Haines Classical Guitar, Ziricote 2019

❌SOLD❌ Bruce Haines Classical Guitar, Ziricote 2019

After our brief break, we’ll start off with a new Bruce Haines classical guitar, using an AAA grade Englemann Spruce top and a lovely Ziricote set for the back and sides. This lovely Bruce Haines classical guitar is built in the traditional Spanish style.  The sides and neck integrated via the ‘slipper heel’.  With this method, the sides slot into the the heel for unified construction and greater transmission of vibration. The top is AAA grade Engelmann Spruce. The neck and solid, non-kerfed linings are Honduran Mahogany.  The body bindings are Ebony with Alaskan Cedar purflings.

❌SOLD❌ Hans Schmidt Classical Guitar Brazilian Rosewood, 1980s

Here we have a Hans Schmidt Classical Guitar, built in Rock Creek BC during the 1980s and featuring a lovely Brazilian Rosewood set for the sides, back and head plate. While there isn’t a lot of information available,  Hans Schmidt apparently built classical guitars and Celtic Harps during the 1980s and 1990s in his workshops in the southern central area of British Columbia,  at the lower end of the Okanagan Valley, not far from the Canadian border.  This is a spectacular area!

❌SOLD❌ William Laskin Flamenco Blanca Guitar, 1987

❌SOLD❌ William Laskin Flamenco Blanca Guitar, 1987

The Laskin Flamenco is built using a Sitka Spruce top paired with a Cypress back and side set, and Cedro or Spanish Cedar for the neck, linings, and back bracing. Construction is the traditional Spanish ‘slipper foot’ style – the neck, heel and neck block are one unit, with the sides slotting into the heel. This is in distinct contrast to other methods where the neck and body are built separately, often using a dovetail or mortise and tenon joint. The head plate and binding are Ebony, and the fingerboard is Ebony with Ebony binding. The bridge is Indian Rosewood.
