This very nice example of the Gibson L-00 Steel String Guitar dates to 1936 and is in good working order. It was recently set up in our shop and thoroughly inspected. All the braces are intact and tightly glued in place. At some point in its life, it’s had a neck reset, and possibly at that time the sides, back and heel were oversprayed with a clear lacquer. This would have been done partly because Gibson’s production method installs the neck to the body before finishing, so a removing the neck to reset the dovetail causes finish damage.
