❌SOLD❌ Gretsch 6120 Double Cutaway Thinline Electric, Orange 1962

In 1962, the Gretsch 6120 Double Cutaway model appeared, displacing the classic but aging single-cutaway deep body 6120 and bearing the new, sealed Electrotone body. This closed body first appeared on the 1961 Tennessean. The new double cutaway version came about through a number of influences. In particular, Gibson hand introduced their very successful ES-335 models, and Chet Atkins felt the Electrotone body worked better at stage volumes.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus Top Heritage Cherry Burst, 2007

Gibson has been quietly building Les Paul Standard Plus Top since about 2002, with the ‘Plus’ referring to the quality and amount of figure on the carved Maple top. Many of these models are also weight relieved, with slimmer ‘1960s’ profile necks and are very good instruments, not just beautiful pieces of functional art. Here we’re treated to a pristine Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus Top with Heritage Cherry sunburst finish. This guitar dates to June 27th, 2007 at the Nashville plant – before the devastating floods.

Two top Nashville session players, Billy Byrd and Hank Garland were approached by the Gibson president, Ted McCarty for ideas on new products. As busy players, Byrd and Garland wanted a shorter scale length of 23.5 inches to allow complex, extended chord shapes.

Here, we have a Gretsch Tennessee Rose G6119T model with a pair of Filter ‘Trons, built at the Japan Terada plant in Nagoya during 2006. It’s in great condition, with light wear and one small ding in the headstock. The pickup covers and rocking bar bridge are showing some light oxidization, which make the guitar look vintage. It’s built with the laminate maple, arched top, sealed ElectroTone body.
