❌SOLD❌ Thomas Ribbecke Halfling Archtop Guitar Red Sunburst 2009

This 2009 Thomas Ribbecke Halfling archtop guitar was built especially for the 2009 Montreal Guitar Show, as an entry into the Red Collection grouping. It’s built with a carved Spruce top, carved Spalted Flame Maple back and matching sides, and Maple neck with an unbound Ebony fingerboard. The neck is a multi-scale with the center of its length being about 26 inches. There’s a large round soundhole on the top located on the upper bass bout next to the fingerboard and Bartolini pickup. Ebony is used for other components including the bridge, pickguard, tailpiece and truss rod cover. Mother of Pearl is used for the headstock Ribbecke and Halfling logos.

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Chet Atkins 6122 Country Gentleman Walnut, 1967

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Chet Atkins 6122 Country Gentleman Walnut, 1967

The Gretsch Chet Atkins 6122 Country Gentleman appeared in 1957 with the 6119 Tennessean, bracketing the popular 6120 model. These were the first of Gretsch’s thin body designs, and unlike Gibson’s new 3xx models, were fully hollow – no center block. Gretsch’s approach to feedback suppression was different, with the sealed ElectroTone body offering some resistance. Chet Atkins himself promptly switched from a 6120 to the Country Gentleman as his primary studio guitar.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Custom CS356 Thinline Faded Cherry, 2008

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Custom CS356 Thinline Faded Cherry, 2008

The Gibson Custom CS356 was the top level version of the Gibson Custom CS336, and was built from 2002 to 2008. Like the CS-336, it was based on a carved Solid Figured Maple top on a chambered single-piece block of Mahogany, routed out to provide the sides, back, center block and tone chambers. Based on its 5-digit serial number with an 8 as its first digit, this example dates to 2008 and as such would be one of the last built.  It has very little wear,  and is in great condition with only a few minor bumps.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Amber Burst, 2005

Originally produced for only the years 1958 to 1960, the Gibson Les Paul Standard overcame its lack of commercial success and became one of the influential guitars ever. The Les Paul Standard appeared in 1958 as a ‘new’ version of the Les Paul model and carried Gibson’s new hum-bucking pickups designed by Seth Lover, and was adorned with a sunburst finish showing off what was normally a nicely figured Maple cap.

❌SOLD❌ Heritage H555 Thinline Maple Antique, 1989

Built from 1989 to about 2017 at the historic Parsons Street plant in Kalamazoo Michigan, the Heritage H555 evokes the higher end, groundbreaking thinline archtop electrics of the late 1950s. The Heritage Guitar Company was founded in 1985 by a number of former Gibson employees who chose not to relocate when Norlin, then Gibson’s parent company, moved operations to Nashville in 1984. They stayed behind, purchased the plant and began producing professional and higher grade instruments clearly influenced by their experiences.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

The Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS model is now discontinued, along with the Memphis plant, but is a great re-creation of a late 1950’s ES-330. Introduced in 1959, the ES-330 took visual cues from the new and very successful ES-335, but is uses a fully hollow body without a solid center block. A pair of under-wound P-90s provide great tone. Until about 1963, the ES330 and its cousin the Epiphone Casino set the neck joint at the 16th fret but subsequently the joint was shifted to the 19th fret, allowing easier access to higher frets.
