❌ SOLD ❌ Gregory Byers Classical Guitar Brazilian, 2011

❌ SOLD ❌ Gregory Byers Classical Guitar Brazilian, 2011

A Gregory Byers Classical guitar is rare to see on the used market. He generally builds as many as twelve guitars per year, to order. His instruments are usually built one at a time, allowing Byers to give maximum attention to each specific guitar. Byers builds single top guitars (as opposed to double top), though he does use other techniques such as the ‘Elevated Fingerboard’ which really involves the top dropping down towards the heel.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson J-160E Steel String Acoustic Electric Sunburst, 1966

❌SOLD❌ Gibson J-160E Steel String Acoustic Electric Sunburst, 1966

The Gibson J-160E is one of the most recognisable steel string guitars, due largely to a series of recordings and performances during the early 1960s by The Beatles. Both John Lennon and George Harrison had J-160E models, while McCartney used an Epiphone Texan strung as left handed. Though it looks a lot like the traditional classic J-45 round shoulder dreadnought, the Gibson J-160E has major structural differences. First, because the design goal was to reduce feedback at high stage volumes, the guitar body is entirely laminate, including the top. Rather than X-braced, the top is strongly Ladder braced.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson L-7 Archtop Acoustic Guitar Sunburst Refinish, 1947

❌SOLD❌ Gibson L-7 Archtop Acoustic Guitar Sunburst Refinish, 1947

Like its more expensive sibling, the Gibson L-7 used a carved Spruce top, carved Maple back, with a Maple neck and Mahogany neck. The L-7 used Rosewood for the fingerboard and bridge. At the time this 1947 L-7 was built and into the 1950’s, ‘Rosewood’ meant ‘Brazilian Rosewood’. At this point, the inlays were the double-parallelogram design, still found on many models. The body is a full 17 inches across – it is a big guitar – but the scale length is standard Gibson 24.75 inches.

❌SOLD❌ C. F. Martin 000-18 Steel String Guitar, 2015

❌SOLD❌ C. F. Martin 000-18 Steel String Guitar, 2015

The C. F. Martin 000-18 is an extremely versatile, great sounding guitar with a smaller body and shorter scale length than the classic D-body Dreadnoughts. As an ’18’ level model, Mahogany is used for the back, sides and neck, with Sitka Spruce for the top and Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. The 000-18 is well known for its even, well represented tone, excellent for both strumming and fingerstyle.

❌SOLD❌ Larrivee SD-60 SH Slope Shoulder Traditional Dreadnought, 2006

❌SOLD❌ Larrivee SD-60 SH Slope Shoulder Traditional Dreadnought, 2006

he Larrivee SD-60 is influenced by early Dreadnought designs, which date as far back as 1916. The earliest Dreadnought body guitars appeared around 1916 and were built by Martin for the Ditson company. The Martin-Ditson Dreadnought body style tends to be long with a wide waist. It has developed into the Dreadnought, the single most used body style in the world. The original Ditson dreadnoughts had many of the features found here on the Larrivee SD-60.

❌SOLD❌ Furch G23CR Cutaway Cedar Top Guitar, 2018

❌SOLD❌ Furch G23CR Cutaway Cedar Top Guitar, 2018

Furch offers a wide range of body styles and wood options, and seems to focus on allowing the customer to customize, rather than making specific models with minimal substitutions. In effect, it’s almost entirely what others call their Custom Shop. As is identified on the label as a Furch G23CR Cutaway, this breaks down to Grand Auditorium body shape, style 23, with American Red Cedar top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, and a Cutaway. The neck is Mahogany, with Ebony for the fingerboard, bridge, and headplate.
