Kelton Swade produced what he called AVR guitars – Authentic Vintage Replicas – for some time now and gained a devoted following amongst high-end players like Keith Urban and Vince Gill.
This example is a reproduction of a guitar produced in 1957, complete with its life experiences. It’s very resonant, has lots of tone, and plays very well. Build quality is high.
Kelton Swade 57 Sunburst Specifications:
- Serial Number: 1957. Dated March 28, 2013.
- Pricing: $3450 CAD with case.
- Neck: Maple neck with skunk stripe.
- Frets: Narrow, high frets and clean fretwork.
- Body:Swamp Ash body in the classic shape. Antiqued to replicate the life experience of a much-used 1957 instrument.
- Finish: Reliced nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Tobacco sunburst on body, clear but worn and aged on the neck.
- Hardware/electronics:The hardware reproduces the 1957 era. Kluson-style tuners, aged 3-piece bridge – stamped SWADE 1957 – and the classic control layout. The pickups are rewound 1957 style. Bone nut.
- Playability/Action: The straight-from-the-builder setup is pretty good, and there’s lots of room to make action adjustments.
- Case: Hardshell case included.
