The Mesa Boogie Road King, here in a 2×12 combo version, is an extremely capable and versatile amp, with four channels, two effects loops and 120 watts of power. This is not a bedroom amp!
The Road King is designed to give the working guitarist a wide array of tones that can be readily tailored to the needs of the tune and venue. The four preamp sections can be mated with any of five (!) power amp sections, using EL34 or 6L6 tubes.
Here we see an early Road King Version 1 combo, with a pair of Mesa Black Widow 12 inch speakers. It dates to probably autumn 2002, the first year of production. The Version 1 Road King was built from 2002 to 2005, and the Version 2 appeared in 2006. The last RK V1 serial number is RK-02147, so about 534 were built each year. This amp has the serial RK-0351. Assuming a consistent production rate, this places us into the later part of the first year. It was built at the Mesa Boogie facility in Petaluma, California.
This professional quality amplifier is in great physical condition and includes the original slip cover. It has been recently serviced and is in good working order.
