Here’s a Kendrick The Rig tweed tube amp, built during 2008 and pushing about 35 watts through a single 12 inch speaker courtesy of a pair of 5881 power tubes. The 5881 is very similar to the 6L6GB tube, but with greater ruggedness.
The Kendrick ‘The Rig’ amp is fairly rare, and like many other models is based on 1950’s Fender amp circuits, particularly the 5E3 Deluxe. This particular amp’s tube chart specifies a pair of 12AX7 preamp tubes, a pair of 5881 power amp tubes, and one GZ34 rectifier tube. It has four inputs, two for each of the Normal and Brite channels. There are individual channel volume controls, but like early Fender Deluxes, the tone stack is shared. Controls are simple – the two Volume controls, the Tone control, ON and STANDBY switches. The speaker is the amp’s original Kendrick Green Frame 12 inch model.
Built in Pflugerville, Texas during 2008, this Kendrick The Rig amp is in very good clean condition and sounds great.
