❌ SOLD ❌ Harmony H306 18 Watt 1×12 Combo Tube Amp, 1964

The Harmony H306 combo amp, delivering about 18 watts through a single 12 inch speaker, was one of many models produced by Harmony in Chicago, Illinois. Harmony was at one time the largest musical instrument manufacturer in the USA – which also meant in the world.

Harmony started in 1892, and in 1916 Sears, Roebuck bought it to supply itself with ukuleles. Production was by no means limited to ukuleles and from 1945 to 1975, Harmony built and sold around ten million instruments from their Chicago plants, some under other brand names like Silvertone (for Sears-Roebuck) and Stella. However, the company collapsed in 1975, unable to overcome low-cost competition from offshore manufacturers.

Harmony H series amplifiers were built from the 1940’s to the late 1960’s at the Harmony plant in Chicago. These were all hand-wired, without benefit of printed circuit boards or IC technology! The Harmony H306 uses a pair of 6V6 tubes for its power section, a pairing that produces around 18 watts. For preamp tubes, a pair of 12AX7s were used, though the chassis is marked for either 12AX7 or the lower-noise military version, the 7025. The amp has two channels plus a tremolo circuit. Power is fed to a single 12 inch Jensen speaker.

This amp is in overall good condition with some wear on the coverings. It’s very light and has a great 1960’s tone!
