Fender 75 12 inch Combo Amp, 1980 (No Longer Available)

The Fender 75 amp, designed by senior R&D engineer Ed Jahns, was built from 1980 to 1982 in Fullerton, California and came in 12 or 15 inch combo or head format. This was one of the last Jahns designs, one in a line that included the 180-watt Super Twin and monster PS400. Soon afterwards Paul Rivera came on as Marketing Director of Fender Amplifiers.

Here we’re looking at a Fender 75 combo format amp, built in 1980 and with its original 12-inch Fender-branded Electro-Voice speaker. It is in overall good and complete condition with its original footswitch, but no cover.

The front panel includes two input jacks, a Bright Switch, a clean-channel Volume, Treble, Mid and Bass controls, all with pull-boosts. This is followed by a Lead control, Reverb, Lead Master, and Master Volume controls. The footswitch has two functions, turning the Reverb on and off, and switching between the Clean and Lead channels.

This amp produces 75 or 15 watts depending on its power level switch, using a pair of 6L6GC power tubes and a solid state rectifier. The preamp section uses three 12ax7’s and two 12at7’s, and is built using an eyelet style circuit board. The back panel includes preamp out, power amp in, and line/recording level jacks.
