The Ampeg SVT-VR recreates an early 1970s “Blue-Line” SVT head. These breakthrough heads appeared on huge stages were huge volumes were required. Standing for Super Vacuum Tube, the SVT was introduced in 1969 to deliver 300 watts of power to multiple cabinets for the largest venues.
Making their first public appearance in the back line of the 1970 Rolling Stones tour, pretty much any subsequent large show involved the SVT.
Here we’re looking at a 2012 example, possibly built as early as November of 2011, of the SVT-VR. It’s in very good condition with no visible damage; if you look closely at the photos, you’ll see some dust, but otherwise not even any scuffing.
These amps are serious, and have a significant weight. The case is thankfully equipped with a pair of solid handles.
