Here we’re looking at a Tone King Imperial sporting Turquoise / White dress and in great condition. This amp was hand built in Mark Bartel’s Tone King shop in Baltimore, MA. In 2010, Premiere Builder’s Guild had just purchased Tone King, which they held till they closed in 2016, ending Bartel’s association with the brand. Tone King is now part of Boutique Amps Distribution, and from 2017 Mark Bartel builds amps under his own name.

Until the early 1960s, Reverb as an effect was very uncommon on amplfiers. The Fender Reverb unit was introduced in 1961 to provide standalone reverb. Fender began to introduce Reverb on amplifiers in 1963, on the VibroVerb combo. Soon it seemed that all Fender amps had to have it!

The Suhr Badger 35 is a moderately powered, hand built tube amplifier topping out at 35 watts and scaling down to 1 watt for tone at more manageable volumes. This single channel amp features power scaling with power, drive and gain controls, an effects loop on the back, and bass, middle and treble controls. Built in Lake Elsinore California during April 2007, this Suhr Badger 35 is in very clean condition and does not appear to have been roaded or used much outside a studio.

Built in Lake Elsinore California during June 2007, this Suhr Badger 18 is in very clean condition.

The Friedman Runt 20 tube amp head is a design by Dave Friedman and I’d bet a donut you’ve heard his work even if you don’t recognize his name. Friedman has serviced, modified and built amps and pedalboard in the North Hollywood, California area for some decades. His client list includes players like EVH, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens with Billy Idol and Jerry Cantrell of Alice and Chains.
