Thompson and Odell banjos and other instruments were made in Boston, Massachusetts. from 1872 to 1905 by CW Thompson and Ira Odell . As well as their own name brand, they built and sold banjos under the names J F Luscomb, Artist and Crescent, and for a time built Washburn banjos for Lyon and Healy.
Ira Odell retired in 1892, Thompson died in 1903 and the company liquidated in 1905. The Vega company purchased the instrument lines and continued some production into the 1920s.
