Scheerhorn resophonic guitars are the brainchild of Tim Scheerhorn, who showed his first guitar to – and impressed – Mike Auldridge in 1989.
Almost all Scheerhorn guitars are of the square-neck resophonic design, intended to deliver quality tone at higher volumes. The tone tends to be ‘modern’ as the construction differs from traditional models. For example, the Dobro Sound Well concept has been removed, and what’s essentially a clear plastic folded horn is installed in the upper bout, directing sound out of the front.
Scheerhorn guitars are now built under license by National.
