Rigel Mandolins are now built by Pete Langdell in Jeffersonville, Vermont. His first examples appeared in 1990 from his first shop in Jeffersonville.
A key factor in the Rigel concept, and the core of their patents, is that the sides are carved from a single block, not bent from flat section.
In October 1999, he moved to a facility in Hyde Park, about 14 miles away. From June 2004 to July 2006, the shop was in Cambridge VT, about three miles from Jeffersonville. At that point the shop declined in size and moved back to Jeffersonville, where Langdell still builds with a small team.
In July 2009, Rigel entered into an exclusive distributorship agreement with GoldTone. However, by 2010, the Rigel website was offering direct sales.
