OME Banjos have been hand built in the Boulder, Colorado area by Chuck Ogsbury since the early 1960s, originally under the name ODE.
The ODE banjo company was sold to the Baldwin Piano company around 1966, and some models were built under Baldwin and Gretsch names.
By 1970, Ogsbury had renewed his interest in banjo making and founded OME with several partners and in 1988 bought out the last of the partners and assumed sole control.
OME Banjos are still built in Boulder.
