The Ludwig Drum company has operated since 1909, but during the early 1920’s recognized a business opportunity and began offering banjos.
Ludwig built a fairly large number of banjos from 1921 to 1933, but as interest in the instrument faded, the company dropped the line completely and focused on their core business, drums.
Ludwig built about 15 different models, in both Plectrum and Tenor forms. Much of the surviving production is lower priced models, and it is rarer to find higher end items like the Ambassador.
