The Carvin Corporation was the 1949 successor to the L. C. Kiesel company, founded by Lowell Kiesel in 1946. He began by making electric guitar pickups and lap steel guitars.
Early on, Carvin began a mail order business to sell directly to the public and avoid having a dealer network.
Carvin operated from 1946 until permanently closing their factory in 2017, but sold their guitar and bass line to Mark and Jeff Kiesel in 2015.
Carvin has produced guitars, basses, amps and professional audio equipment. There are now two separate companies, Carvin Audio and Kiesel Guitars.
