Arthur Hansel, originally Hensel, built guitars, violins and other instruments in the west end of Toronto from the 1930s into 1952. For some years he was contracted to build for R S Williams Co.
Arthur Hensel immigrated to Canada from Germany in the early 1930’s and by 1936 was listed in the Toronto Telephone directory as ‘Arthur Hansel’. This may have been a misprint or a reaction to then-current sentiments.
Guitars built by Arthur Hansel are high quality, well built and can sound quite good.
