Here is a lovely tenor ukulele built by Kanile’a in Hawaii during 2007. The label identifies it as a Custom T, so the original purchaser specified the woods and materials.
The Kanile’a company in Kane’ohe, Hawaii produces some of the nicest ukuleles we see. This Kanile’a Koa Custom T Tenor ukulele is an excellent example of their work. Built by master luthier Joseph Souza these are very well made, professional grade instruments.
Born and raised on Oahu, Joseph Souza apprenticed to Peter Bermudez and has been building ukuleles since 1991.
This Kanile’a Koa Custom T Tenor ukulele is built using the traditional Hawaiian material – Koa – and a nicely figured set was used here. The neck is Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard, and has abalone position markers. Gold plated Grover Sta-Tite tuners are used. An active pickup is installed, with an end pin jack. This example dates to 2007 is in very good condition with only light wear, and the original hardshell case is included.
