Taylor’s 35th Anniversary celebration continues with the 12 fret Koa Grand Concert! This guitar proves that size does matter, but sometimes smaller is better! This anniversary Grand Concert model features a stunning set of AA grade Hawaiian Koa sides and back, Engelmann spruce top, slotted head stock and 12 fret neck to body joint. The rich orange and brown hues of the Koa back and sides and bright blond Engelmman spruce top are beautifully augmented by the green heart abalone rosette and top trim. Everything about this guitar is jaw dropping gorgeous!!
The reorientation of the neck, body and bridge makes for a dramatically different sounding Grand Concert. The bridge being shifted farther back on the lower bout provides a blend between modern and vintage tonal flavors. The midrange on this guitar is rich and warm and the treble frequencies have a distinctive snap and brilliance. In some ways this guitar may sound a little more like a vintage martin than the typical Taylor sound. In Bob’s own words “It’s soft, easy, warm, folky, bassy and loud. Call Joan Baez so she can sing us a folk song.”
